Choosing webbing stretchers and spring tools

Find the bearing point on the frame

The Osborne 253 catches webbing close to the rail with a gooseneck handle. The shorter 255 puts six pins at one end and a rubber bearing surface at the other. Compare the room for your hand and the attachment tool while the webbing is held.

Separate grip from leverage

A jaw tool and a pin tool get hold of a strip differently. Check the replacement webbing and where you can grip it before deciding which type fits the job.

Can I use a webbing stretcher for a spring?

First identify which part is loose. For a spring attachment, choose equipment intended for the actual spring and fitting. For an unsupported strip, compare the webbing and its attachment point.

What should I measure for a clamp-style stretcher?

Check the open width around the strip and the jaw dimension. The Osborne 251 keeps the overall length of the 250 but narrows the jaw.

What if the webbing must avoid sharp teeth?
